The eighth annual Australian festival of Russian films, Russian Resurrection, has announced its official line up of films for 2011. The program features 15 outstanding new Russian films, including many Australian and international premieres, along with a retrospective of five Russian classics including the 1980 Oscar® Award Winner for Best Foreign Language Film, MOSCOW DOES NOT BELIEVE IN TEARS.
The Festival will showcase two Russian box office hits, a comedy starring Hollywood actress Milla Jovovich (THE FIFTH ELEMENT, RESIDENT EVIL), LUCKY TROUBLE, and a comedy by renowned director Timur Bekhmambetov, SIX DEGREES OF CELEBRATION.
Also included in the stellar line-up is the drama, ELENA, from one of the most successful Russian directors of the past ten years, Andrei Zviagintsev; nominee for Best Foreign Film in the 2011 Golden Globe® Awards, THE EDGE; and BREST FORTRESS, a realistic account to the beginnings of the Second World War and an example of Russia’s ability to produce some of the best war films ever made.

Screen Space is a not-for-profit art gallery in Melbourne’s CBD designed specifically for exhibiting screen-based and media art. The space is offered rent-free to artists and curators. Exhibition proposals are assessed by a committee of artists and writers.
Entries NOW OPEN - St Kilda FF
Embarking on its 28th year the St Kilda Film Festival, presented and produced by the City of Port Phillip, screens Australian short films in all genres including drama, comedy, documentary, animation and digital media. The 2011 competition will screen the ‘Top 100’ short film entries received. These films make up the key element of the St Kilda Film Festival program which also screens a selection of international short films along with interactive Industry Forums and a number of special events.
The Top 100 are all in competition for a prize pool which totals over $40,000 worth of cash and in-kind craft awards, including a $10,000 prize for Best Short Film. Other prizes include Best Director, Best Achievement in Screenplay, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Indigenous Film Making, Best Comedy and Best Achievement in Sound Post. As well as the short film competition, St Kilda Film Festival features the SoundKILDA Music Video Competition. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: Best Music Video and Best Music Video – Animation. There will also be a special audience award presented on the night, which is fast becoming one of the Festival favourites. Entries close 29th Jan 2011

3rd Palestinian Film Festival
This year’s theme is Visit Palestine in Reel-Time, inviting filmgoers on an unforgettable journey through the complexity yet undeniable beauty of Palestine.
The festival opens with the semi - autobiographical Zindqeeq by Michael Kh.leife and includes Julian Schnabel’s Miral, starring Vanessa Redgrave, Hiam Abbass and Willem Dafoe.

Each year the Festival screens over 150 features, shorts, documentaries and experimental films from Australia and all around the world over 11 days.
